Free guided tour
There is a free guided tour of the museum, every Thursday at 18.30 hrs (Dutch) and at 19.30 hrs (English).
Foam is located in three adjoining, monumental canalside buildings in Amsterdam. Because of the previous owner, Carel Joseph Fodor, the buildings have a joint history. In 1863 he founded Museum Fodor, the first museum for modern art in Amsterdam. In 2001, architecture firm Benthem Crouwel transformed the three buildings into a single modern museum. The building's fascinating history not only lends a unique atmosphere to the museum but also makes the museum more exciting to navigate, with many stairs and various differences in level.
The museum offers an elevator, a handicapped-accessible bathroom, and a loading zone where visitors can be dropped off.
Unfortunately, our monumental building is not fully accessible to wheelchairs as not all museum rooms are accessible via elevator. Unfortunately, it is not possible to visit the museum with a mobility scooter or electric wheelchair.
Before your visit, be sure to contact us so we can discuss the possibilities together.
Visitors who are unable to navigate their way through the museum independently are permitted to bring a companion with them for free.
Folding stools for use in the museum are available at the front desk. If you wish to borrow one please ask one of our members of staff at reception.
Pets are not allowed in the museum, with the exception of leashed, registered guide dogs.
For the deaf and hearing impaired, Foam organises a free tour in Dutch Sign Language on the first Thursday of each month.
