Thomas Ruff ~ New JPEGs

The most recent work by Thomas Ruff consists of digital images from various sources. They are all poor-quality jpeg images, and Ruff further coarsens the images by printing them in an extremely large format. In this way, the pixel structure, which is barely perceptible when looking at these images on the Internet, becomes predominant, dissolving the images in an ordered but empty system of colour codes.
