In June 1919 German Rear Admiral Ludwig von Reuter scuttled the German High Seas Fleet at Scapa Flow, a body of water in the Orkney Islands, to prevent it falling into the hands of the Allies. By using various forms of visual and written records, Wendy McMurdo attempts to reconstruct this dramatic incident in such a way that it does justice to the complex nature of history.
